The Weir High Red Riders Bowling won the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference (OVAC) championship this year. The Championship team consisted of the following: Hailee Anderson, Jayden Davis, Nick Parker, OVAC All- Star Selection; Andrew Byers, OVAC All-Star selection; Kylie Dunmyer, First Team All OVAC’s’ Shane Arnold, OVAC All-Star selection & WV State Bowling Individual Runner-up; and Jackson Parsons, OVAC WV All-Star selection, First Team All OVACs, 5th Place OVAC Individual Top Bowler & WV State Bowling Individual Champion. Bob Babinchak serves as the head coach with Charlie Whiteman serving as assistant coach.

Besides winning the OVACs this year, the team also won the Coach Camp’s Baker Tournament on Dec. 18, 2023. Weir High has won the OVAC’s for bowling four of the past five seasons and past three years in a row.

The Red Riders finished 3rd in the first-ever WV State Bowling Team Tournament. Weir High Bowling has finished in the US High School Bowling National Championships as an Elite 2 of the past 3 seasons out of over 5,000 high schools in the United States.
