NEW CUMBERLAND CITY COUNCIL

Reports of progress in several areas were heard by New Cumberland City Council. All members were in attendance to approve awnings for the new city building on River Avenue. Mayor White said the awnings were extremely sturdy and anchored in the ground with a two-foot drop would buffet the building from the wind coming off the river. Council approved $9,680.00 for the cost of the awnings. Target date for the move into the new city building is May.

WV Sen. Ryan Weld attended the meeting to report he had talked to City officials about a grant for a tractor and would be checking on the potential the next day.

Plans for demolition of dilapidated buildings continue. Basil Ritchie was in attendance to discuss the properties he owns in town and whether tearing them down was a possibility. The property in question is located across from Nixon Funeral Home.
