NEW CUMBERLAND FLOODED

Flood water that moved faster than anticipated resulted in some residents needing to be rescued by boat, with ambulances removing he most vulnerable from flooding residents, said New Cumberland Mayor Will White.

The water was supposed to crest at 37 feet, but instead is expected to crest at 40 feet at 1:15 p.m. today according to White. Currently, the water has covered the Dump Bridge in Upper Town and has filled the low lying areas. White said the area where the red light and the old Graham’s Store is covered and flooding extended through lower town, A command center had been set up at the Fire Station, but had to be moved to the current City Building on Court Street when that area flooded.
