Grace M. Kourpas, 92, of Chester, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024, at The Orchards of East Liverpool.

Grace was born in Newell on November 12, 1931, to the late Arthur and Edith Bailey Parrish.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, George Kourpas; son, Steven M. Kourpas; stepson, Steve T. Kourpas; brothers, Ralph and Howard Parrish and sisters, Elsie, Helen, and Marion.

Grace was a Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church member in Steubenville, OH. She was active in the Church as a member and past President of the Ladies Philoctetes Society and a member and past president of the Holy Trinity Seniors.

Grace graduated from Chester High School in 1949. She worked for the A & P Tea company in East Liverpool, Ohio for 24 years, until it closed in 1975. Grace and her husband moved to Pennsylvania in 1976 and she went to work for Shop N Save Supermarket. She worked for Shop N Save until 1992 when she retired to move back to West Virginia to be closer to family. After her husband died in 2002, she went to work for Weirton Healthcare in Weirton and retired in 2010 when she moved back to Chester to be closer to her son and sister, Helen.

Grace is survived by her special sister-in-law, Neove Young; 2 stepdaughters, Helen Ann (Russ) Moore, and Georgette Kurtz; stepdaughter-in-law Sue Kourpas; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Her family would like to thank the staff of the Orchards in East Liverpool, and the Buckeye Hospice for the amazing care provided for their loved one.

Family and friends will celebrate Grace’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Friday, April 26, at 6:00 p.m. Private burial will be held at Locust Hill Cemetery on Saturday. Friends are invited to visit her family at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
