Donald W. Harris I, 88 of East Liverpool passed peacefully at his son’s home in Boardman on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, following a year-and-a-half battle with cancer.He was born on January 7, 1936, in East Liverpool, the son of the late Melvin and Hilda Meeks Harris.Don retired from the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 154. Don cherished time with family, especially boating on the Ohio River. He loved flying his plane as a private pilot. Don was a longtime member of the East Liverpool Elks Lodge #258, and East Liverpool American Legion.In addition to his parents, his siblings, Cheryl Schmidbaur, Cindy Roach, Becky Parson, Cathy Harris, and Melvin Harris preceded him in death.Saddened by his loss are his wife, Patricia Hood Harris, his children, Donald W. (Cindy) Harris II of Chester, Sean (Holly) Harris of Boardman, and their children, Kohen and Grayden Harris, and Brody Steiner, and Donna Householder of Toronto, OH. His surviving sisters include Kathy LaNeve of Cranberry, PA, Sondra Poole of Lisbon, and Mary Lou (Paul) Burnstein of Ft. Pierce, FL. A multitude of adult grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive as well.Pastor Matt Llewellyn of the East Liverpool Church of the Nazarene will celebrate Don’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Saturday, May 4, at 3:30 in the afternoon. The Boilermaker Ritual will be held at 3:15. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:15. Private interment will be Monday at the Crest Haven Memorial Gardens in New Waterford.
