OBITUARY: HELEN KLAKOS

Helen L. Klakos, 91, of New Cumberland, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Stone Pear Pavilion.

Born on August 29, 1932 in Steubenville, she was the daughter of the late Cyrus and Elsie Johnson Martin.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Klakos, son, David Klakos, sisters, Thelma Kushner, Freda Nagy, and Bessie Lash, and brothers Robert and Wayne Martin.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Cumberland. Helen enjoyed many different things in life, but her focus and love were centered around her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She volunteered as the Oak Glen Football Boosters Secretary during the years of 1972-1975. She enjoyed the time she worked at the Hancock County Senior Center where she became the envy of the center as a Wii Bowling Champion. She also loved playing bingo and baking. 

She will be deeply missed by her son, Ed Klakos, and his wife, Lori of Rogers, daughter-in-law, Alice Ann Klakos of New Cumberland, grandchildren, Heather Klakos (Matt McNeely), Danielle Wade, and Kamren Klakos and two great-grandchildren, Connor Wade and Nehemiah McNeely.

We will celebrate Helen’s life on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Arner Funeral Chapel at 1:00 PM. Interment will be held at New Cumberland Cemetery.  Friends may visit with her family two hours before the service from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
