CHESTER GARDEN CLUB

The Chester Garden Club held its monthly meeting at The Family Kitchen and Smokehouse on Wednesday, May 22nd. President Jeanne Roberts called the meeting to order, distributed the meeting agenda, led the group in The Pledge of Allegiance and the Garden Club Prayer, and conducted the meeting. Donna Stevens read “Memorial Day Tribute” and gave the blessing before the meal.   Paige Rayle distributed copies of the minutes from the April 24th meeting.  Mary Ann Wright gave the treasurer’s report.   Members voiced their appreciation of the Chester Street Department for removing the overgrown trees at Richmond Garden.The members also thanked Kat Rossy, Wilson, and Wright for assisting on the day of the tree removal.   Roberts announced that Citizens Drugstore has been added to the list of locations where the club’s jigsaw puzzles are available.   Members voted to approve the updated Chester Garden Club Bylaws.   Flowers were planted in the flower pots along Carolina Avenue on Monday, May 20th, by several members of the club. Trelaine had saved and cared for several of the geraniums and vincas from last year so that they could be replanted this year which saved the club a sizable amount of money. Members also discussed ideas for planter decorations for the months between Christmas and the spring flower planting.  A suggestion was made to add decorations with a patriotic theme. Trelaine suggested adding red and white tulips to the display.   Discussion was held on ideas for upcoming fundraisers. Trelaine suggested embroidering a design on American made dishtowels. She has a sewing machine that can do this type of work. Plans were made to look into the availability and pricing of dish towels.   Next month’s meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 26th at 1:00 PM at The Family Kitchen and Smokehouse. Anyone who would like to join the club is invited to attend.
