DEMOCRATS PLAN ACTIVITIES

The Hancock County Democratic Executive Committee held their monthly meeting at B4 Bar and Grill, 180l Pennsylvania Avenue, Weirton on June 20th with Chairman Kathy Link calling the meeting to order, welcoming those in attendance and leading in the Pledge Of Allegiance.  The secretarial and treasurer’s report were waived so that the speakers Deborah Stiles, Candidate for Commissioner of Agriculture; Mary Ann Claytor, Canidate for State Auditor; and Dean Harris, Candidate for Weirton.

Silent attendance was taken.            Deborah Stiles spoke about Farmers and the frustrations and challengesn that they face.  The speech really opened eyes regarding the Farming Community and how much is taken for granted, without thinking about the disadvantages of the small family farming community.  Tell and www.stilesforwvagriculture.com.

                                                  • Mary Ann Clayton spoke on the West Virginia Auditing System and its lack of transparency.  Her stories and examples made us realize how important it is to have competency and accountability in the State.  WV really needs real-time financial reports, so we know where our money is allocated.  Everybody needs to talk about Mary Ann Claytor as much as they can, so everyone knows of her and her plans. • Dean Harris is running for Mayor in Weirton.  He spoke about other cities that lost their industry and bounced back to be attractive and sought after locations.  Examples he gave were Wheeling, WV and the South Side of Pittsburgh, which were both doomed to be ghost towns, but great leadership helped to bring them back to thriving communities.  If elected Dean Harris wants to do this with South Weirton, where there are vacant buildings and abandoned lots.  It would be great to have a thriving downtown Community.  Everybody needs to talk about and support Dean Harris as Mayor in the City of Weirton General Election.
                                                  • The participants in the Fourth of July Parade, which was held on Saturday, July 6th were Alesia Brogdon, President of Hancock County Democratic Women, Kathy Link, Chairman of the Hancock County Democratic Executive Committee, Pam Allison, Membership Chairman and Alison Martin Member.   Also participating from Brooke County Executive Committee and Brooke County Democratic Women were Anna Gillespie, Chairman of the Brooke County Executive Committee and Katey McGrogan, President of the Brooke County Democratic Women.
