Mountaineer Gas was in New Cumberland last week installing new gas lines in front of the soon-to-be-demolished property purchased by the State of West Virginia for the new alternative route 2. There were other areas, including that in front of the City building that received new lines according to Mayor Will White. According to the Dept. of Highways, White said the RFP (request for proposal) to demolish the buildings being torn down to make way for the new road will be put out in the next two weeks. No work on the Route 2 alternate is expected to begin until next year.
