WVSSAC BOARD APPROVES CHANGES TO BASEBALL POSTSEASON FORMAT

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. – The WVSSAC Board of Directors has approved changes to the postseason format for baseball, set to take effect with the 2025 season. The new format, which eliminates sectional play, was unanimously supported by the baseball coaches committee.

In the new format, all teams will compete in a regional bracket. Each region will be divided into two double-elimination brackets, with the winner of each bracket advancing to a best-of-three series. The winner of this series will secure a spot in the state tournament.

The regional brackets will be seeded based on a vote of the coaches.

All postseason games will be held at the higher-seeded team’s field. In the best-of-three series, the higher-seeded team will host the first and third games.
