…………………….It is going to be a glorious fall! How do I know? Well, for two reasons; Shannon’s first stab at gardening in her yard in upper town New Cumberland produced only one small tomato her fall harvest is great filled with zucchinis and peppers, but her pumpkins are impressive and numerous. Her garden is a “surprise garden” because she couldn’t remember where she planted what. She does remember there being six packets of pumpkins, however and now the pumpkins are making themselves known. They are here, they are there, they might end up everywhere. They are currently coming over the garden fence and heading for the road..
……………,Any idea of what you do with pumpkins? Don’t say pies, because that involves a skill neither of us ever learned. Don’t you dare say Jack o’ Lanterns because that would involve knives and you don’t want to read about the trip to the Emergency Room. We figured Maddi and Emi (also known as “the Littles”)could give pumpkins to their loved ones, but at the rate these pumpkins are growing their family and friends could be overwhelmed. Which takes us to decorating. Can you spray paint a pumpkin? I think the current trend is white, but gold might be neat and purple. Wasn’t there a song about a Purple Pumpkin Eater.
…………And the other reason it is going to be a great Fall is I’m on the move again. About three weeks ago I woke up In agony on my left side. Diagnosed with sciatica and a bulging disk in my L-4, I was pretty miserable. But, the doctor, looked at the CT scan and said with physical therapy it would resolve itself. It has and I am again pain free and ready to go. I don’t even mind that I’m wearing tennis shoes.
……….It may be 91 degrees outside, but Fall is on it’s way. Watch for news of the Riverfest, cheer on your favorite team and if you want a pumpkin, we might be able to help you out!
