James A. Manypenny’s family is shocked and saddened by the unexpected loss of a wonderful husband, stepfather, brother, uncle, grandfather, and brother-in-law. Jim passed in the emergency room at East Liverpool City Hospital after becoming unresponsive at his home in Chester on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
He was 62 years old and born in East Liverpool on January 12, 1962. His parents were the late John W. and Frances LaNeve Manypenny.
Jim retired as a Placer from Homer Laughlin China Company, and earlier had managed the Holiday Inn Express in Newell, and served as manager at the First National Bank of Chester. He was a graduate of Oak Glen High School and West Liberty University. Jim’s main priority was his family. In addition, he loved hunting, watching, and attending sports of every kind, just being outside, traveling, and especially everything Notre Dame.
Jim was blessed with a large and close-knit family, his wife, Renee Wolfe Manypenny, stepchildren, Willis (Starr) Reed, and April (Jimmy) Nulf; siblings, John (Pam) Manypenny, Rick (Grace) Manypenny, Kevin Manypenny, Michael (Jody) Manypenny, Chery (John) Hissam, Carla (Marshall) Simcox, and Mary Allison. Also, he leaves his brothers, and sisters-in-law, Shelley (Steve Keeney), Jack Wolfe, Terry (Rob) Metz, and Jay (Kim) Wolfe as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, his in-laws, Dennie and Mary Jane Wolfe, sister-in-law, Mitzi Wolfe, brothers-in-law, Larry Wolfe, and Eric Allison, and brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Tina Wolfe preceded him in death.
Family and friends will celebrate Jim’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel on Monday, September 23 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Dirk Hall officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverview Cemetery in East Liverpool. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, two hours prior to the service, from 11:00 am to 1:00 p.m.
