Bob Reed and Joe Paolo were honored for their service as citizen appointees of the Hancock County Commission on the Business Development Corporation of the Northern Panhandle at the Commission’s meeting Thursday. Both Reed and Paolo’s tenure on the Board began when the BDC was first formed. Under the previous bylaws, one County Commissioner served on the Board and the other two Commissioners appointed a citizen representative. New bylaws have been approved by the BDC which calls for all three Commissioners to serving thus eliminating the citizen positions.
Commission President Jeff Davis thanked Reed and Paolo for their service, “They were members of the Board when we were meeting at the Holiday Inn,” said Davis. “They have been a tremendous asset, attending all the meetings and being active Board members.”
Reed thanked the Commissioners for the opportunity to serve, saying he saw firsthand how hard the Commission and the BDC worked to bring new business to the County.
“It was the best job I ever had and I never got paid a penny,” said Reed.
A resolution was approved supporting the BDC and pledging $39,675.00 towards a grant from the West Virginia Development Office.
The Commission accepted the resignation of Office Administrator Ontasia Petteway and thanked her for her service. They approved the hiring of County Administrator John Klee effective Nov. 12 and Office Administrator Theresa Cain effective November 7.
In other business, the Commission:
