Community Garden Gets New Fence
The Magic Tree Community Garden along North Chestnut Street in New Cumberland has a shelter with picnic tables, fruit trees, flowers and shrubs, and 19 raised beds where local citizens can grow vegetables (or flowers) all summer long. Over recent years, some hungry deer have become a nuisance, eating the produce before it can even be picked. Hopefully the garden’s new addition will put a stop to all that. A six-foot high black chain link fence was installed all the way around the garden, with a gate on either side so that the gardeners can access their beds. This new fence was made possible through a grant from the Northern Panhandle Conservation District, the city of New Cumberland, and the Magic Tree Community Garden Committee. Magic Tree would like to thank all those who worked on this project to make it a success.
