1st District Delegate Pat McGeehan to a key leadership position in the House of Delegates. House Speaker Roger Hanshaw appointed McGeehan as Majority Leader of the House. The position is seen as pivotal as it is the Majority Leader keeps track of the bills and which ones will taken up for action. Also seen as a “traffic cop” the majority leader also makes sure those bills move through in a timely fashion.
First elected in 2000, McGeehan has often been seem as a maverick with House leadership. He is a strong proponent of conservative legislation and is known for thinking out-of-the-box in his approach to State issues.
A graduate of Oak Glen High School and the Air Force Academy, McGeehan served as an intelligence officer in the Air Force achieving the rank of Captain. He currently serve as a teacher at Madonna High School in Weirton.
