WVNCC to host FAFSA assistance event Feb. 6

WHEELING, W.VA – West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC) will participate in West Virginia FAFSA Day on February 6, 2025, offering free assistance to individuals needing help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2025-2026 academic year. The event will take place from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at all three WVNCC campuses in Wheeling, Weirton, and New Martinsville, and from 6 – 9 p.m. online via Zoom.

The FAFSA is the primary application for federal and state financial aid. Completing the FAFSA early increases a student’s chances of receiving financial assistance and helps them plan for the cost of college.

During the event, WVNCC financial aid staff will be available to guide students and families through the FAFSA process, ensuring they have the best opportunity to qualify for federal and state financial aid, including grants, scholarships, and work-study programs.

“The FAFSA is a critical step in making college affordable,” said Justin Miller, WVNCC Director of Financial Aid. “Many students don’t realize they may be eligible for financial aid that can significantly reduce or even cover their tuition costs. Our goal is to make the FAFSA process as simple and stress-free as possible.”

West Virginia FAFSA Day is a statewide initiative led by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission, the West Virginia Community and Technical College System, College for West Virginia (CFWV), West Virginia GEAR UP, and the West Virginia TRIO Association. The collaborative effort aims to support students in accessing the financial aid resources they need to pursue higher education.
