Board of Education Awards Bid for Pyrite

The Hancock County Board of Education awarded the bid for pyrite repair at Oak Glen Middle School. The bid was for $1,740,000.00. The cost of the pyrite repair was included in the recent School Levy. Concern was expressed by Board member Ed Fields that the amount was inclusive and Lombardi would not submit change orders or add ons as the project progressed. The Board also questioned if there was assurance that the problem would not reoccur.

The Board recognized the Weir High Journalism Class for winning the National Press Freedom Award. Teacher Morgan Bricker and Superintendent Dan Enich presented each student with a certificate denoting the accomplishment. Bricker outlined the multi-faceted projects the group produces.
