Gladys Loretta McAleer, 89, of East Liverpool, passed away on April 17, 2025, at Calcutta Health Care Center surrounded by her family.
Born in Hundred, WV, in Wetzel County, she was the daughter of the late William “Bill” and Minnie Dawson Williams.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Merle Hardy Sr.; son, Merle Hardy Jr. and siblings, Shirl Williams, Virginia Whitehill, Charles Williams, and Stanley Williams.
Loretta dedicated her life to raising a family in Newell, WV. In the latter part of her life, she lived and worked in Naples, FL, as a real estate agent for the National Development Corporation out of Pittsburgh, PA. It was there that she married her second husband, Thomas J. McAleer III, with whom she shared many adventures and extensive travels, truly enjoying life together.
She will be lovingly remembered by those she leaves behind on this earth, her children, Zana Hardy and Jeff Hardy (Jennifer), along with her grandchildren—Lisa Roberts Bish (Shawn), Lauren Ludovici Brown (Kyle), Michael Ludovici, Tyler Hardy (Briziet), Siera Mallow (Chris) and seven great-grandchildren.
In accordance with Loretta’s wishes, no services are planned at this time. Her family is planning a celebration of her life to be determined at a later date.
