Richard “Bubba” Bowen, 26, of East Liverpool, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
Born on July 11, 1998, in East Liverpool, he was the son of Joellen Haught of East Liverpool and Richard Bowen (Mecca) of Chester. He graduated from Oak Glen High School in 2017, where he played on the football team. He continued his education at New Castle School of Trade, where he earned an associate degree in Industrial Maintenance. Bubba worked as a security guard at Saddle Ridge.
An avid sports fan, he particularly loved hockey and football. Bubba enjoyed bodybuilding and was known for being outgoing and the life of the party. He cherished his role as a wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephews. Bubba was a loyal friend that you could always count on.
Bubba will be deeply missed by his parents, siblings Robert Miller (Jade) of East Liverpool, Josh Hewlett of Hopewell, PA, Christen Prieto (Jason) of Austintown, Abigail Carlson (Ryne) of Poland, Shannon Nixon of Chester, and Chrissy Peters (Greg) of Newell, along with many nieces and nephews, and his paternal grandfather William Haught. He will also be missed by his faithful dog, Rush.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Jennine Haught; paternal grandfather, Stonewall “Pete” Bowen; and his high school sweetheart and love, Natalie Szpyrka.
A celebration of Bubba’s life will take place on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Arner Funeral Chapel at 6:00 PM. Pastor Kim Gadd will officiate. Friends are invited to visit with his family on that same day from noon to 2:00 PM and again from 4:00 until 6:00 PM. Immediately following the funeral food and fellowship will be held at the House of Prayer in Calcutta.
