The Hancock County Commission accepted five resignations from Hancock County Animal Shelter employees at Thursday’s meeting and approved the hiring of part-time, summer help Baily Cuteri, but made no comment on the turnover of employees. Since the Commission hired a new director, supporters of former employee, Hope Sayre, have taken to Facebook to vent their displeasure with the move.
Shelter employees submitting their resignations were Kathy Beagle, Alex Zeigler, Kaitlyn Lamp, Lydia DiBiagio and Ashlee Miller.
The Commission also accepted the resignation of Assistant Prosector Justin Wiater and voted to advertise for the position.
While not addressed within the context of the meeting, upon the meetings conclusion a Sheriff’s deputy questioned when that group should expect to get their health insurance cards. The Commissioners had switch health carriers and the employees are but days away from the old insurance ending and the new insurance being responsible, but no insurance card has been received. The Commission did not address the issue from the podium.
