Sen. Weld Delivers Checks to Area Organizations

Sen. Ryan Weld (R-1st) delivered checks from the Legislative Economic Development Funds at Thursday’s County Commission meeting. Receiving checks were the Chester VFW Post 2716, the local office of Emergency Management and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Weld, the funds for the VFW are to assist with HVAC repairs. The funds for the Sheriff’s Office will go into the Canine Funds to deal with supplies, training and care for the County’s Canine Office. The funding for the Office of Emergency Management will provide a new vehicle for the department..

The Commission passed the Resolution to approve the Business Development Corporation of the Northern Panhandle and approved a pledge of $39,674.00 towards a grant from the West Virginia Development Office. The BDC is the lead economic development agency for the Northern Panhandle’s six counties.

In other business, the Commission:

**Accepted the resignation of David Polgar from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department;

**Accepted the resignation of Alexis Rhiannon Paris and Stephanie Slack;

**Approved re-advertising for full and part-time employees for the Hancock County Animal Shelter;

**Gave the go-ahead to approve new hires for the Hancock County Animal Shelter.

**Paid bills of $75,315.72 out of the general funds and $18,933.33 on the purchasing card.
