Chester’s Teapot Day is Saturday

The City of Chester is getting ready for its Teapot Day on Saturday. The event is celebrated at the famed largest teapot in America’s final resting place in the northern end of Chester. Hot dogs and drinks will be sold from the Teapot which was retrofitted as a concession stand at its former location. Local civic organization will have boots and vendors will have items for sale.

Chester City Council is outfitting police cruisers with a e-ticket device at a cost of $1,200 per car. Council was informed Monday night that the patrolman need only to swipe the license of the resident who has been stopped and all the necessary information. will be added to the citation.

Council also voted in favor of raising the part-time patrolman’s salary to $24.17/hour. The Dept. is hopeful that the salary increase will ensure more part-time officers will stay on the Chester Police Force.

In other business:

**Permission was given to close 3rd Street for the third annual “Ghouls Day” on Oct. 11. The event is sponsored by Chestnut Hills Candles;

**A motion to install two cameras in City Park was approved. The cost is $10,805 with poles/lights included;

**Coal severance payments July 8 through August 4 totaled $7,596.45. Those funds go to the library and the City Park.

**Receipts in the general fund totaled $247,801.75 with bills totaling $115,274.77 The building fund reported receipts of $6,517.00 and bills of $873.73

**The next meeting will be Sept. 8.
