The consideration of Animal Shelter management bids currently received by the Hancock County Commission died for lack of a motion at the Commission’s meeting Thursday. The Commission then approved advertising the Request for Proposal (RFP) for the management of the animal shelter once again.
The resignation of John Plesa from the Hancock County Health Board was accepted. The Commission will advertise for Plesa’s replacement on the Board. The candidate must be a resident of Clay District and be a Democrat or No Party Affiliation.
The resignation of two Sheriff’s Deputies was accepted. Sergeant Jeff McIntyre will retire effective Sept. 30. 2025 and the Commission agreed to pay McIntyre’s remaining vacation days totaling 8.38 days in the amount of $2,030.64
Deputy First Class Christopher Oak resignation, effective August 31, 2025 was accepted. Oak’s request to be paid $6,119.75 for 28.43 was approved pending confirmation from the Sheriff’s Office.
In other business:
**Consideration to approve selling three Sheriff’s Department’s vehicles to Six Recycling died for lack of a motion as did a consideration to approve selling two Humane Officer/dog warden vans to Six Recycling;
**Approval was given to send a letter of support to the I-68 Energy Manufacturing Corrider;
**Approval to the County Assessors supplemental salary was granted; The Assessor’s agricultural compensation was also granted;
**The position of County Mechanic was eliminated effective August 31, 2025;
**A request from New Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department to enter into a lease purchase agreement was tabled from the August 14, 2025. The issue was removed from the table, but was not approved.
