The 2025 5K Race will launch the Riverfest Saturday. The race starts at 9 a.m. with signup at 8 a.m. The race has been ongoing since 2014 and initially began as a fundraiser for Oak Glen’s Physical Education Department so a fitness trail could be in around the school.
Trisha Enochs, race coordinator said the event has helped the school to continue improvements, “We put in 8 fitness stations with the help of the OG Alumni. The proceeds and continued community support help us to supplement our department with additional PE equipment,” she said.
Registration has grown from about 85-100+ participants . Participation rates have been helped by implementing a trophy for the most participants on a team and it’s a race between the Magic Tree Garden and A Swan Bail Bonding each year. The Vulgamore and Swan families and their friends make up most of the participants.
” I am very thankful for their loyal participation each year,” said Enochs. ” Our age range is stroller division to late 80s. Nora Ann White has been a loyal participant since the race started and our oldest participant each year!”
