Tenaska Update

Scott Murray, manager of project development of Tenaska Development, confirmed that the Six property is not one of the two properties in Hancock County signed to drill test wells. Murray said the company does not release the names of those who have signed instead preferring the public to come to Tenaska for any information.

Tenaska has submitted a Class 6 Permit application to the West Virginia Dept. of Environmental Protection (DEP). Previously, the permit would have also been submitted to the Federal regulatory agency, but West Virginia now has established primacy.

According to Murray, the project is years away from coming to fruition. During that time legal ads will be published and public hearings will be held on the project. The company has established an office on Three Springs Drive in Weirton which is staffed on Thursdays. Any resident wishing to come in to study maps or to acquire other information on the project can schedule an appointment to do so.
