Retirees and employees of Hancock County Schools heard a presentation from Nate Mazur on Bento, an administrator of insurance plans. Mazur explained that Bento isn’t an insurance plan, but rather administrates the plans the employees and retirees already have. To switch from the existing administrator would be a $60,000.00 savings to the school system and the individual plan holder would either be the same or lower. The Board will study the plan.
A presentation on the Career Technical Education in the County was given by Chris Enochs, director of the JDRIV Career Center. The Center currently offers auto collision repair, automotive technology, baking & pastry, carpentry, diesel equipment, health career, graphics design and welding.
Adult education includes CDL, PN and GED.
He noted that enrollment is continuing to grow with 186 students enrolled this year as opposed to 149 the year previous.
The Board voted to approve an amendment to the hydro pilot agreement. The amendment adds the City of New Cumberland to the Board of Education and the Hancock Commission as those who will negotiate a payment in lieu of taxes agreement with Hydro.
The Board acted on personnel issues which Enich noted included no new positions or hires. The Board:
**Accepted the resignation of Alexandria Bruno as assistant dean;
