MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The WVU Medicine Center for Nursing Education (CNE) will begin accepting online applications for the spring 2027 cohort of its nursing diploma program at 9 a.m. on Thursday (Jan. 15).

The 21-month program offers prospective students a full tuition waiver, free books, and extensive support services in exchange for a three-year work commitment at any WVU Medicine hospital upon graduation. The fall 2026 cohort will begin classes on Aug. 24.
Located on the WVU Innovation Corporation campus in Morgantown, the Center for Nursing Education is a state-of-the-art, hospital-based nursing school and registered nursing diploma program. The school blends innovative learning and training spaces, simulation rooms, interactive laboratories, and amenities to support student success and wellness throughout the program.
“We get excited with every new cohort of students. Our faculty, staff, and students have created a truly special place to learn and grow,” Tanya Rogers, Ed.D., M.S.N., assistant vice president of nursing education for the CNE, said.
“Our comprehensive admission process allows us to use a variety of criteria to evaluate the strengths of our applicants. We have information on our website and appointments available to help those interested navigate the process and put their best foot forward.”
To be eligible for enrollment, interested students must have a high school diploma, GED, or TASC equivalent by Oct. 6. Prerequisites for the program include a C average or higher in high school or college algebra, chemistry, and English.
The program’s application and all necessary materials must be completed and submitted by March 2 for priority admission to the fourth cohort of students, which will begin classes in January 2027. Application cycles open in January and August each year, one year prior to the intended date of enrollment.
