Candidates File for County Commission and Circuit Clerk

The midnight hour is fast approaching for candidates to file for the 2026 election. At 3 p.m., Saturday, January 31. 11 people have filed for the Board of Education including incumbents and those seeking office the first time. Both House of Delegates and the Senate have competition and the County Commission has competition in both the Primary and General.

Quincy Wilson has filed as a Democrat for the House of Delegates 1st District challenging Republican Pat McGeehan (R-1st) who also serves as House Majority Leaded

Senator Laura Wakim Chapman (R-1st) will be challenged by Republicans Joe Eddy and Democrats Sean Fluharty and D. Daniel Day, a in the General election.

On the County level. Republican Eron Chek will have both a Primary and General Election contest. She will face former member of the House of Delegates Ron Jones, a Republican, in the Primary, Democratic candidate Brianne Bates and will face her opponent in the General.

Sheena Connor has filed to fill the Circuit clerk vacancy created by the untimely death of Sandy Casto. The deadline for filing has been extended until Tuesday, February 3 for the Circuit Clerk.

Matt Harvey has filed for Magistrate. Harvey was required to run after filling the unexpired term of Jon Phillips.

Eleven candidates haved filed for the unaffilated Board of Education. They include both incumbents and those seeking office for the first time. Three are to be elected. Grant District candidates include Zack Adams, Seth Cheuvront, Curt Parkins and David Brown. Clay District Candidates include incumbent Jim Horstman, incumbent Ed Fields and former sheriff and Oak Glen School Principle Jeff Woofter, Melissa Bane and David Bream. Butler candidates include Jack Crow who was appointed to fill a vacancy and now must run for the seat, Michael Phelps and Tiffany Gale.

Candidates may also mail their applications, but the application must postmarked by midnight/
