Board of Education Recognizes Rising Leader

Kayla Violet, teacher at Weir High, has been recognized as a Rising Leader in the school system. She was nominated for the honor by then Weir High Principal Ted Arneault. Kayla, who works with special needs students, was praised for working with the students in a coffee cafe, a program she spearheaded.

In an agenda and actions approved by the State Superintendent, the following items were approved:

**Sheena Camerlengo leave without pay;

**Patricia Boniti, grade 3 teacher, Weirton Elementary, retirement;

**Natalie Charlton approved as school counselor, Weir High;

**Don Wright, counselor at Weir High, retirement;

**Terri Patterson, kindergarten, New Manchester Elementary, retirement;

**Coaching resignations accepted for Ted Arneault, asst football, coach, Oak Glen High, and Quincy Wilson, head coach football, Weir High;

**Coaching assignments for Oak Glen High: Adam Davis, asst. football; asst, girls’ track Diane Wells, asst. girls’ tennis, Christian Watkins and Head Boys’ Soccer Camden Barr;

**Resignations from classified staff include Robert Kramer, bus operator 915, retirement; Susan Kim Spell, LPN/Aide, Weir Middle, retirement; Tabatha Lane,substitute aide, countywide, personal; Brian Sweeney, Bus Operator, medical leave of absence.

**Permission was granted for the use of school facilities for both the primary and general election.

**Overnight trips were approved for Oak Glen Middle traveling to Washington April 24; JDRIV Skills USA, Fairmont, March 26; Weir High Wrestling State Qualifiers, Huntington March 5 and Weir High participating JEA/NSPA, Minneapolis, April 15;

**Aapproved as volunteers Melissa Stevens, Melissa Bringman-Spencer and Natasha Basil.

The Board will meet again March 23.
