Hometown News Responds to 2nd Delay of FOIA Information from WV State Board of Education

Ms. Kelli Talbot, Esq. WV Board of Education

April 15, 2026

Dear Ms. Talbot:

I write to protest the State Board of Education’s 2nd delay on Hometown News FOIA.. request.     While FOIA are supposed to be delivered 5  business days after the request, I agreed to a delivery date of April 9 in the spirit of working towards a getting the real story of how Hancock County’s then CFO, Joe Campinelli mislead  the  Hancock County Board of Education on the true financial State of the County School District.  To say that his actions and the State’s subsequent takeover have shattered the fiber of this school statement is an understatement.

On April 9, 2026, however, I received an e-mail informing me I would be not receive the information until  mid-May.   This is not acceptable to me or the Hancock County taxpayers.  Sufficient time has been provided to the State Board to produce the documents.   We were promised transparency when the State took over, but the reality has been anything but transparent.

Please advise what parts of our FOIA have been completed and forward them to us  immediately and advise what remains to be completed.

Best,
