(WEIRTON, WV) April 29, 2026–WVU Medicine Weirton Medical Center President and CEO David Artman today announced a significant investment in children’s healthcare services in Weirton, marking the official start of construction on a new WVU Medicine Pediatrics office.
Artman emphasized that the decision to relocate pediatric services to this new site reflects a strategic, patient-centered approach to care delivery. “We evaluated access, visibility, and convenience for families, and this location—given its proximity to high-traffic retail areas—presents a meaningful opportunity to better serve our community,” said Artman.
The new space is being designed as a state-of-the-art, family-friendly environment that prioritizes both clinical excellence and ease of access. By aligning modern healthcare delivery with everyday convenience, WVU Medicine continues to advance its mission of improving health outcomes across the region and making healthcare accessible to all.
Pediatricians Jennifer Zatezalo, MD, and Dana Lounder, MD, will lead care in the new office and are expected to begin seeing patients in the space before the end of the year.
“This investment represents more than a new building—it reflects our long-term commitment to the health and well-being of children and families in our community,” Artman added. “I am proud to announce this expansion of access to high-quality pediatric care and look forward to the impact this will have for years to come.”
