New Cumberland Passes Parking Ordinance

New Cumberland City Council passed the first reading of Ordinance 26-001 -No Parking Zones. The ordinance was necessitated because the placement of the intersections on certain sections of 2nd & 3rd Avenues make it difficult for emergency vehicles such as fire trucks to access homes. It’s a matter of public safety according to Mayor Will White. Vehicles parking to the edge of the street will now be prohibited on 2nd and 3rd Avenues. White pointed out that most of the homes in that area have access to park on their own property.

Council is pursuing demolishing the structure at 674 Commerce Street, and taking conveyance of 301 Sedgewick Street so they can demolish the structure. The Commerce St. property needs the signature of four heirs to turn it over to the City. Two have been obtained and Council is searching for the other two heirs. Council voted to pay the back taxes of $718.22 on the Commerce St. property so they may move forward with demolition.
