Work Halted on Rt. 2 Bypass

Residents have noticed that no work is being done othe Rt. 2 bypass through New Cumberland. Now strangely silent, the construction area is absent of equipment and no construction worker is in site.

The halt of construction is just temporary, according to Brian Kucish, District Engineer. An agreement is being worked on between Norfolk Southern Railroad which runs adjacent to the new path of WV Rt.2. Kusick said there was a concern about drainage and installing drainage pipes. The Dept. of Transportation and Norfolk Southern are meeting this week to hammer out an agreement. Kusich said the Dept. of Transportation may opt to move the drainage to the opposite side of the road.
