Nancy E. Heffner, 81, of New Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Pepper Berry Suites in Chester, surrounded by her devoted and loving family.
Born in Steubenville on December 25, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Thomas “Red” Rainey and Dorothy Reed Byrne.
Nancy was a devoted homemaker whose children and grandchildren were always at the center of her world. Her selflessness and unwavering support shaped the lives of those she loved. Nancy often lent a helping hand to her son, Jeff, at the Mountaineer Club in Chester, where her kindness and gentle spirit touched many. She will be remembered as a caring, quiet, and humble person, always putting others’ needs before her own. Beyond her role as a loving mother and grandmother, Nancy found joy in playing bingo and games of chance, where her laughter and friendly nature brought smiles to those around her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Heffner, and her sister, Janie Phillips.
She is survived by her sons, Jeff (Cindy) Davis and Mark (Patti) Davis, both of New Cumberland; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Davis, Shawna Davis, and Joey Davis; her great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Natalia, and Liam; and her sister, Sherry (Roger) Rowland of Chester.
Pastor Dave Willey will celebrate Nancy’s life at Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Thursday, June 11, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at New Cumberland Cemetery. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 10, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., and on Thursday, June 11, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Nancy’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Pepper Berry Suites and Valley Hospice for the loving, compassionate care provided to their loved one during this difficult time.
