- FIDELIS GAMMA CHAPTER MARCH 7, 2024 MEETING The Fidelis Gamma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Organization for Women Educators met at Eat ‘n Park Restaurant in Weirton, WV, on March 7, 2024, with President Diane Higgins presiding. There were 14 members in attendance. President Higgins welcomed the members. Bonnie Queses gave the “Thought for the Day” with a reading in memory of Jerry DeFilippo – Fidelis Gamma member who passed away February 17, 2024. A moment of silent prayer followed the reading, and then, each member shared sacred memories of their beloved sister. Treasurer Carolyn Allison gave the financial report. In preparation for the State Convention at Oglebay Park in April 2024, Allison purchased gift cards to be donated for the event. Corresponding Secretary Susan Cullinan read cards that contained donations to Fidelis Gamma Chapter in memory of Jerry DeFilippo. Alpha Delta Kappa Month will be spearheaded by Chairman Shirley Washam in 2025. Altruistic Chairman Margo Polk gave a detailed report on donations – monetary, non-monetary and member service hours. Fraternity Education Chairman Janet Benzo presented a “symbol activity” for members to enjoy deciphering the activity. Publicity Chairman Ruth Fuller presented articles from the newspapers to be used to prepare a display at the State Convention. President Higgins presented information about the Alpha Delta Kappa State Convention, April 19-21, 2024, at Oglebay Park, Wheeling, WV. Registration forms were circulated. Members are requested to bring items to the April meeting for the “Goody Bags” at the state convention. The “Nominating Committee” will meet March 14th to create a slate of officers for the next biennium – 2024-2026. Those on the committee are Carolyn Allison, Ruth Fuller, and President Higgins. The members will vote on the slate of officers in April, and the new officers will be installed at the May meeting. Sisterly concerns were expressed. Members are asked to bring Christmas Card fronts to be donated to the Math teacher at Oak Glen Middle School. March birthdays are Elaine Ferrari – March 10, and Pat Accettolo – March 17. April birthdays are Susan Cullinan – April 3, Sandi Anderson – April 16, and Ruth Fuller – April 19. Hostesses for the meeting were Susan Cullinan and President Higgins. April hostesses will be Margo Polk and Donna Roman. The meeting was adjourned with the singing of the “Lamp of Alpha Delta Kappa.”
