Kaylex Gibson, daughter of Miranda Gibson and Aaron Gibson, is the April Lions Club Scholar of the Month. She is an 18-year-old senior at Oak Glen High School.
Kaylex is a two-year member of Oak Glen’s cheerleading team and competition squad. She has been selected to cheer for West Virginia in the 78th Rudy Mumbly All Star Football game on July 20th. She is also a two-year letterman on the Oak Glen tennis team. Her junior year, also her first year, she made it to states in the team, doubles, and singles divisions. Kaylex was runner-up this year at the tennis OVACs in doubles and made it to the semi-finals in singles, leading her team in wins to place the team as runner-up in the 1A-4A division.
She is also a very active member of her school. She is in the Pep Club, Key Club, Prom Committee, and the National Honor Society. She takes many AP courses as well as dual credit classes through West Virginia Northern Community College. In her free time, Kaylex enjoys volunteering as an assistant coach for her sister’s travel volleyball team.
After high school, Kaylex will continue her education in psychology at West Liberty University. She will also be continuing her tennis career on the West Liberty women’s tennis team.
