Hancock County Commissioners heard from Scott Murray, manager project development of Tenaska, at its June 12th meeting. Murray told that the company is preparing to drill a test well in the vicinity of Murray Road and Washington School Road. The test well will determine geological conditions to assess if the area is appropriate for a carbon-capture well. Tenaska has signed on two properties for potential wells, although they decline to provide the names of the property owners.
Murray said Tenaska’s Tri-State Hub includes Ohio, PA. and West Virginia with six counties involved in the tri-state hub. Tenaska is based in Omaha, Nebraska develops Carbon-Capture and Storage facilities in the Appalachian Basin. The project is anticipated to develop, construct and operate 22 CCS sites across the six counties.
