Ted Arneault, head principal of Weir High, will move to the Central Office in the next phase of his career in the Hancock County School System. Arnealt was appointed on a 4-0 vote to serve in a newly-created position of Transportation Coordinator. Board member Jim Horstman abstained because his son was involved in the process.
The position of Operation Chief/Transportation was eliminated. The position was a classified position while the Transportation Coordinator is a certified position.
Arneault previously served as assistant principal at Weirton Elementary, teacher and football coach at Oak Glen and as a teacher Madonna High School.
The Board also approved a policy change which allowed head principals to serve as coach. The Board posted the policy for the legally required time and member Ed Fields said only one comment was received.
In other business the Board:
**Approved a PRO agreement with the Weirton Police Department. It was noted it is the same agreement as last year and will cost the Board $244,214,00
**Agreed to let a school bus be used to transport campers at Tomlinson Run to the swimming pool;
**Accepted resignation from Kris Sparks, substitute teacher countywide; Lacee Hinzman, speech language pathologist;
**Approved transers for Kamryn Bable, Grade 1 Allison Elementary to Grade 2, Weirton Elementary; McKayla Goodlin, Grade 4, New Manchester to Grade 7, Weir Middle;
