The Hancock County Commission met in a special meeting Friday to add amendments required by the National Park Service (NPS) to the Kennedy Marina Agreement.
The concessionaire agreement between the County Commission and CEMCO, owned by Patrick and Ted Arneault, sets the guidelines for CEMCO to serve as a vendor to operate, regulate and supervise Kennedy Park & Marina, including but not limited to concession stand, goods and services, vending machines, laundry facility, bath house, camping and river activity administration. The amendments added to the agreement are a non-discrimination clause in which the concessionaire agrees to comply with all Federal laws relating to nondiscrimination in connection with any use, operation or activity.
The other amendment clarifies that the concessionaire has no ownership in the marina property and that the County “conveys no interest in real property to the concessionaire.”
Commission President Eron Chek explained that the concessionaire is in agreement with the amendments and will sign off.
Patrick Arneault, concessionaire, said that the business at the Marina had been better than anticipated. There were many areas that need to be updated and their crews are working on them. Plans included in the development plan presented to the Commissioners include a family-oriented restaurant and ultimately entertainment.
