Although the final license is still to be granted to Current Hydro, LLC for the New Cumberland Hydro Electric plant, the Board of Education and Hancock County Commission have agreed upon an original PILOT project payment schedule. The proposed escalating PILOT/lease payment is $400,000.00 with $50,000.00 going into a Community Investment Fund. The 40-year, escalating lease will ultimately bring $526,614.00 the County and Board.
100% of the lease in Hancock County consists of leasing property to Current Hydro. $3,500.00 per month is the lease amount (calculated using comparable $ per acre rate. 10.5% of the PILOT payment is the lease amount, as the PILOT payment fluctuate, the lease amount will be adjusted using this ratio.)
