The Hancock County Board of Education recognized Oak Glen Middle School’s 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams Monday evening for being Volleyball BMC Champs.
Thel Board voted to join in a national class action lawsuit against the four major social media companies asserting the companies foster social media addiction. Board members expressed the belief that social media poses a threat to its students especially in the area of mental health.
In other business, the Board:
**Approved Jessica Zimmerman as a countywide substitute cook;
**Assigned Ashley Hinerman as an LPN/Autism Mentor;
**Approved an administrative release for Jeremy Alger, substitute teacher;
**Accepted resignations from Julie Paul, countywide substitute teacher and Jenna Maine, Grade 3 teacher, Weirton Elementary;
**Assigned Marlena Maiine, and Rosemary Guida as countywide substitutes;
**A motion to approve Justin Horstman as a booster paid assistant basketball coach at Weir High died for lack of a second;
**Granted a leave of absence to Haley Davis, secretary at Weirton Elementary;
**Granted approval for the Transportation Department to purchase Diesel Fuel;
**Approved the purchase of NGS Llumar installation for WES, ATA, OGMS with added safety security film for $6.166.00
**Approved the Musco Sports Lighting installation for Weir High School parking lot for $66,451.00
**Approved a trip to Stonewall Resort for Weir High FBLA Nov. 20 and 21;
