Just My Opinion….by Tamara

Kudos to House Majority Leader and 1st District Delegate Pat McGeehan. HB 4575, the funding vehicle for the $8 million loan for Hancock County’s deficit has passed. The bill, sponsored by McGeehan, was fast tracked in the House and passed over to the Senate with an agreement to do the same. The bill languished in the Senate Finance Committee for a while and was amended by 1st District Senator Ryan Weld to add the word loan to the title. That meant the bill differed from the House version and this week the House concurred with the Senate’s amendment. The bill is now on its way to Gov. Patrick Morrisey for signature.

McGeehan took the lead on a crucial issue for his constituents and stayed focused on making sure the bill stayed on track. The value of having a legislator in a leadership position is crucial to the District and McGeehan’s persistence in taking care of his district is to commended.
