What do I know? What do I think? by Tamara

…….Apologies to readers who have been waiting for the property transfers. I hunkered down and did them this weekend. I have been consumed with the school takeover story. What do I know? A lot, but everything has to be verified before it’s printed. (an anonymous letter can lead me down a path, but its contents can’t be printed. If you sign your name and telephone number for verification, I won’t use your name if you ask it be anonymous). For those who wish to mail information our address is PO Box 107, New Manchester, WV 26056.

………..I know the decision by the superintendent to cut the number of PRO officers is a bad one by my standards and the fact that both Sheriff Gittings and Weirton Chief Kush oppose that decision reinforces my opposition. I think that the State and the Superintendent are putting numbers over the safety of children.

…….I know that section (i) of the levy funds pro officers includes other safety materials. I know that when I asked Superintendent Walt Saunders for a list of what they would spend that 25% on he responded that they did not have the list together. I think that this is to o crucial an issue to trust those expenditures will be more valuable than a PRO officer. I think that the public and the governmental bodies need to make their feelings known.

……….I know there are issues that need to be addressed such as: Is there an investigation being conducted by the State or the Federal government on the way Hancock County funds were handled? Is the County going to go after the $400,000.00 bond on Campinelli? (We submitted a FOIA on the bonds on Campinelli and were given bonds beginning in 2017. He was employed in 2000. Where are those bonds? ) I know we need to find out the status of the most recent audit being done by the State auditor’s office? I also know we’ve never learned why the firm that did the two prior years was fired?

……..I think I have more questions than answers right now, but I’m also determined to find out the entire story. The Hancock County community deserves nothing less.
