With 2,268 Republicans voting, Jones received 78.44 % of votes cast (1,779) to Chek’s 21.56% (489). The Commissioner’s budget and Chek’s support of further reducing the Sheriff’s budget by 15% was a major issue in the election.
Both the Animal Shelter Levy and the Library Levy were successful, both exceeding the necessary 60% super majority. The Animal Shelter received 68.5% of an affirmative vote while the Library Levy received 71.7%.
