Margaret Pauline (Cline) Comm, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully following a brief illness, surrounded by family at her home in Chester, WV, on Friday, May 29, 2026, age 88. She has been called home to heaven, where she is now resting in the arms of her Savior. Her innate kindness, compassion, and steadfast dedication to her loved ones endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.Margaret was the daughter of the late Lemuel Lawrence Cline (October 28, 1970) and Margaret Anna Goppert Cline (September 5, 1956). She was born at home in Chester, WV on April 27, 1938.Margaret spent most of her life in Chester, apart from a handful of years in Huntington and Morgantown, WV, and Canton, OH, just after her marriage to Clifford L. Comm on August 30, 1958 at the First Christian Church in Chester. She was a graduate of the Chester High School Class of 1956 and earned a degree in Secondary Education from Marshall University in 1960. She taught second grade for one year in 1968 at Chester Primary School, and is still remembered by those in her class as being very gentle and soft spoken. She loved doing brain games and puzzles and quizzing her family at the breakfast table on trivia from her Jeopardy day-to-day calendar. First and foremost, Margaret was a dedicated mother and wife. She treasured her family and embraced every moment spent caring for them. Margaret was strong in her Christian Faith and was an expert long-term Sunday school teacher. She and Clifford were members of the Presbyterian Church in Chester, where they led a youth ministry before founding Cornerstone Christian Church, a small nondenominational church which met at the former Allison’s Corner Market in the Upper End of Chester. Margaret was known and loved by all the children in the neighborhood surrounding her Virginia Avenue home in Chester. She often visited elderly neighbors who lived alone to bring them their favorite sweet treats and keep them company. To her grandchildren, she was “Grandma Marg,” and her home was a wonderland of toys, movies, costumes, trikes, swing sets, and an inflatable swimming pool, which later grew to an above ground in the side yard. Along with her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Frederick G. Goppert (April 18, 1943) and Clara P. Sittig Goppert, who raised Margaret for the first five years of her life due to her mother’s tuberculosis. Margaret is also preceded in death by her six siblings: Lawrence F. Cline, Lewis W. Cline, John H. Cline, Juanita “Nean” Cline, Rosemary Ibbs, and Esther Smallwood. She is survived by her husband at home of 67 years, Clifford L. Comm. Margaret’s legacy is carried on by her loving family: three children: Andrew Comm, Joseph (Linda) Comm, and Marianne (Randall) Trzeciak; by her ten grandchildren: Tai Kotas, Josh (Ashley) Comm, Garrett (Mariah) Lavenets, Christian Comm, Caitlyn Comm, Chloe Comm, Matthew Comm, Abbie (Kevin) Berger, Nate Trzeciak, and Luke Trzeciak; as well as by her five great-grandchildren: Shea Barnes, Hailey Lavenets, Otto Comm, Amelia Comm, and Hannah Berger. The family will celebrate Margaret’s life with a small private service in the chapel at Columbiana County Memorial Park in East Liverpool, OH, on Tuesday, June 2, at 1pm.
