Senator Ryan Weld (R-1st) attended New Cumberland City Council Tuesday to see if there were any projects or problems on which City needed his assistance.
Weld was questioned by Council on the abrupt departure of the construction crew working on the Rt. 2 Bypass through town. Weld, and others, said they had talked to the Dept. of Transportation and Norfolk Southern Railroad had problems with drainage in the area between the track and the new road. Norfolk Southern and the State have now reached agreement on the issue and the State is reporting the drainage ditch may be located on the opposite side of the railroad track.
An update on the hydroelectric plant revealed that work is being done to finish the hydroplant south of New Cumberland and then the construction will move to New Cumberland.
Mayor White has words of praise for the Memorial Day events which took place in New Cumberland. Services were held at the Cemetery and in New Cumberland followed by a parade. The VFW sponsored bands in its parking lot.
