It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, and father, Herbert W Lockhart, Jr. (affectionately known as Herb and Herbie), whose warmth and spirit touched all who knew him.
Born on March 22, 1960, in East Liverpool, Ohio, Herb was the cherished child of Thelma Stacey Lockhart and the late Herbert W Lockhart Sr. He proudly graduated from East Liverpool High School, carrying the values of his upbringing throughout his life.
As a boy, Herb was spirited and full of mischief, spending countless hours outdoors and riding bikes with his older sister and friends. Whether racing for miles from the Beaver Creek campground to their home off St. Clair, or simply sharing laughter, he created treasured memories. Herb’s lifelong fascination with cars began with Matchbox toys and blossomed into a true passion—he loved tinkering, painting, and driving them. His fierce loyalty to family was clear, especially in the way he protected his little sister, earning the respect of all who knew them.
Herb’s gift for conversation could light up any room, and his sharp wit and intelligence were matched only by his easygoing nature. Always generous, he never hesitated to help others, especially when his family needed him most.
Herb’s mechanical skills were exceptional, and he found great joy in working on cars alongside his father—bonding over shared projects that strengthened their connection. He also cherished time spent with his family and friends, building lasting relationships through simple acts of kindness and camaraderie.
He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Thelma; two sisters, Theresa Stockdale (Michael) of East Liverpool and Tamera Maddox (Joseph) of Marion, OH; four children, Richie Lockhart (Janice) of Texas, Tiffanie, Krystle, and Wally of Ohio; numerous grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nieces Chelsey Scalo (Nicholas) and Genevieve Maddox of Marion, OH; nephew Joseph Maddox of Marion, OH; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and two lifelong friends, Debra Harding Lockhart and Sonia Conrad.
In accordance with Herb’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. His life will be honored at a small graveside service at Columbiana County Memorial Park in East Liverpool, OH, on Thursday, June 11 at 11 am. The family would like to thank Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester for their compassionate care during this time.
