John J. Krzys, of New Cumberland, passed at the Weirton Medical Center on Friday, November 13, 2020, following a brief illness.
Born to the late Frank Krzys Sr. and Josephine Krzys in Weirton on February 21, 1952, John was 68 years old.
Many people boast of many attributes, but John was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend above all. He will be remembered fondly by his children, Jeremy (Kristy) Krzys and their children, Kendall, and Jace of Newell, Amber (Vince) Krzys of Encino, CA., and Jessica Stickles and her children, Zack, Isaac, and Kaliah of Weirton; his brothers, Frank (Robin) Krzys Jr. of Weirton, Jerry Krzys of Weirton, and Carl Krzys of Charleston, WV; his niece, Nikki Krzys his nephew, Jerry Krzys, and many close friends.
The love of his life, Sharon J. Krzys passed on February 14, 2019.
John retired as an operator at the First Energy Bruce Mansfield Power Station in Shippingport, and earlier had been a teacher and outstanding band director at Oak Glen High School. He loved music of his era, the 1960’s and 70’s. John graduated from Oak Glen High School in 1970 and earned his BA from Fairmont University. He was raised in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Cumberland and was a member of the American Legion Post 121 Sons of the Legion, and the Elks Lodge in East Liverpool.
Memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to the Oak Glen High School Athletic Department at 195 Golden Bear Dr., New Cumberland, WV. 26047.
Due to the current health crises, a memorial service will be announced later. The Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester is assisting John’s family with these arrangements.
