Notice of Public Hearing followed immediately followed by a Council Meeting for a Proposed Adoption of an Ordinance Raising Revenue
Notice is hereby given pursuant to W. Va. Code § 8-11-4(a) that at the regular meeting of the City of Chester Council on December 7, 2020 at 5:00, in the Council Chambers, Council will consider adopting a proposed ordinance raising revenue entitled Ordinance Numbered 2020-01.
The purpose of this proposed ordinance is to raise revenue for the City of Chester by imposing a sales and use tax of 1% within City Limits. A copy of the proposed Ordinance and any amendments thereto are available for public inspection in the City of Chester’s Clerk’s Office Monday – Friday from 9:00 – 4:00.
During the meeting there will also be the second reading and proposed adoption of Ordinance Numbered 2020-02 to reduce and eliminate certain areas of our B&O Tax which is required by the Home Rule Board in order to enact a 1% sales and use tax and Ordinance Numbered 2020-11, an ordinance to establish an increase in the utility rate and associated costs for water and sewer service to the residents serviced by the City of Chester Water and Sewer Department.
