New Cumberland Election Set

   New Cumberland City Council approved an Election Proclamation calling for the election of the Mayor, Council Members and consideration of a Park Board Levy on May 11.  On the ballot will be a four-year term as Mayor and Council seats in Ward I, Seat B (4 year); Ward II, Seats A (4 year) B (4 year) and C (2 year.)  Also on the ballot will be consideration of the Park Board Levy currently used to fund the City’s Park, playground and Community House.  
   Residents  wishing to file for Mayor or any of the Council seats may do so January 11 through 30.

In other business, Council:
**Passed the 2nd reading of an ordinance authorizing bond financing for improvements to Water/Sewage improvements;
**Passed the 1st reading of a Sewer Rate increase. The 2nd reading of the increase will take place at the January meeting;
**Transferred $30,000.00 back to the Rainy Day fund. Council had approved transfer of the funds to the General Funds in the event finances were precarious due to COVID.
**Increased the amount of donations to prior year levels. Concern over the impact of COVID on the budget caused Council to approve only 50% of the usual donation earlier in the year. Both Swaney Library and NC Fire Department were returned to $500.00
**Learned the Christmas Parade would proceed on December 12;
**Agreed to continue to provide space to the Victim Assistance Program;
